Gene passed away at his home on January 7, 2017. He was born in 1924 in Caro, Michigan to Herbert and Mable (Tibbits) King. During World War II Gene served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre. Following the war, he received a BS, MBA and advanced studies degree in Agri-Business from Michigan State University, remaining and avid Spartan fan throughout his lifetime. Gene was married in 1946 to Catherine (Stacy) King until her death in 2009. Gene's passion was family, business, hunting and fishing. Gene never stopped challenging those around him to find their passion in life.
Surviving are his children: Diane King McMorran of Port Huron, Judy King of Fenton, Karen King (Mark) Manrique of Lansing, Gene (Beth) King of Bancroft and Joy King of Fowlerville; grandchildren, Tracy Williams of San Diego, CA, Teresa (Robert) Hudson of Fountain, CO, Ian (Beth) McMorran of Seattle, WA, Kirk McMorran of Royal of Oak, Paul Manrique of Mishawaka, IN; and six great grandchildren; in-laws, Tom and Rita Birchmeier of Flint, Marian King of Lapeer and many nieces and nephews.
