Gene was a friend of my parents from our "Byron years". My dad worked for him for a while, as well as knowing him and Kay socially and I graduated from high school with Diane and saw Kay and Judy in church frequently. I'm so sorry for your loss and have the family in our prayers. I'm not sure when this photo was taken, but recently found it in my mom's picture folder. Kathy Hamilton Kilbreath

Gene and Kay were both amazing people. I am very sad to hear of his passing. The Kings and the Hamilton's go back a long time. Our dad Vern, worked for Gene several times over the years, and my brother in law Lloyd also worked for him during some of the bad auto layoffs in the 70's. My sister Kathy and I were just looking at a picture from back in the 60's when our folks went to the Bahamas with Gene and Kay and Art and June Kleiber. I recall the large rotating dining room table in the King family home on Aginaw Lake, don't remember ever seeing another one like it. Our folks said many times that the 60's living in Byron were some of the happiest times of their lives, and the Kings were a big part of that happiness. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the King Family.

I met Gene in 1993, when I applied for membership at the SOA. He was one of those individuals that I enjoyed visiting and listening to his many stories of days gone by. A very interesting man who lived such a complete life and enjoyed such strong family ties. The support of his children was very honorable right to the end. He will be missed.

Gene was a family friend for 30 years plus. He helped us out of many difficult times with his words of wisdom. He was a positive man and everyone he was around could feel his energy. RIP Gene. God Bless the "King Family"
