Obituary of Phyllis Z. Watson

Watson, Phyllis Z. (Shawl) Bay City, Michigan Mrs. Watson, age 87, passed away Tuesday November 3, 2020. Phyllis Zora Shawl was born August 31, 1933 in Petoskey Michigan to the late Earl and Pearl Shawl. Her early life was spent on Drummond Island, where her father was a fisherman and her mother was a teacher. She met her husband Glenn Watson in church as children. They were married on May 15, 1954 and had 63 wonderful years together. After graduating from Bay City Central High School in 1951,she worked at Habitant Furniture Co. as a secretary. She was a stay at home mom for many years before starting selling Tupperware. She soon was promoted to a Manager of her own unit and enjoyed working with the dealers in her unit. She started out as an assistant leader in Girl Scouts, which continued for 50 years. She would still meet for breakfast with the leaders she had worked with. Phyllis was an avid gardener and truly loved working in her flower garden. She is survived by her three children, Gary (Joyce) of Springfield Ohio, Gayle (Louis) Prieur of Bay City, and Greg also of Bay City. Phyllis had 11 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Hyatt-Ewald Funeral Home, Bay City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
