Boyd Boettger was born in Emmett County, Michigan on December 9, 1933. Upon graduation from Pellston High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War.
On October 17, 1959 he married Mary Ann Gorzinski. Three children were born of this marriage, William, Joseph and Patricia.
Boyd retired after 30 years with the Bay City Fire Department. He also served on the Bay Arenac Behavioral Health Board for 20 years and was a very active member of the Bay County Democratic Party for 50 years.
