Obituary of Carol Ann Poole

Poole, Carol Ann Kawkawlin, Michigan Carol Ann (Kilmer) Poole, 63, of Kawkawlin, Michigan, peacefully crossed over on Friday, April 12, 2019, after a brief illness. Born in Petoskey, Michigan on October 25, 1955 to the late Geraldine (Smith) Kilmer and Clyde Kilmer. Carol Ann was a woman of deep and quiet conviction. Her door was always open to family, friends and those who may have needed a listening ear. Married to Larry Poole on May 11, 1974, they had three children, one of whom, Janelle Schalk, survives. Her husband survives as well as her brother Gary Kilmer (Ruth), sister Karen Lambert, sister-in-law Elaine Davis and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom loved her in life and mourn her passing. She shouldered the untimely loss of two sons – Brian and Robert – and the passing of her parents; mother- and father-in-law Wilfred and Leanore Poole; brother-in-law Wilfred Arthur; and sister- and brother-in-law Dorothy and Jim Garza and great nephew Colton Lambert. She directed the tremendous sadness of these losses into many artistic endeavors and most importantly into helping others, including assisting in the care of her two beloved grandchildren Brianah and Hailey. A proud member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, Carol Ann had a spirituality that sparked a love of all things in nature and brought comfort to those around her. She passed in peace knowing she was loved in this world and that she would be welcomed into eternal life by all who had gone before her. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday April 18, 2019 at the Hyatt-Ewald Funeral Home, Bay City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday April 17, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. The family thanks the dedicated physicians and nurses of the McLaren Hospital Flint ICU for their compassionate care.
