Obituary of Benjamin (Ben) F. Histed

Histed, Benjamin F. (Ben) Munger, Michigan Mr. Histed, age 94, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at his home. He was born March 10, 1924 in Munger to the late Charles and Mary (Patelski) Histed. He married Dorris Gower June 23, 1956 at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Munger Michigan. He was a lifelong resident of Munger, and a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He enjoyed wintering in New Port Richey Florida, gardening, spending time at the cabin at Hicks Lake, fishing & hunting, playing cards & Bingo with his friends in Florida. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy (Christ) Miller of Hudson FL; a brother, Sherman (Charlotte) Histed of Munger MI; several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Kathy Jones. He was predeceased by his wife Dorris in 2005, his grandson Russell Makidon in 2009, his son Edward, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church (St. John the Evangelist Church),614 Pine Street, Essexville, Michigan, with Father Dale Orlik officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Hyatt Ewald Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and at church on Thursday beginning at 10:00 A.M. A Vigil Service will be held on Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
