Martha, age 72, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Heartland Hampton. She was born August 14, 1942 in Cloete Coahuila Mexico to the late Maria Balderas and Miguel Garza. She earned her CNA license and worked many years before her retirement from Sheffield Bay in Bay City. She was a member of Shalom Assembly of God and a former member of First Assembly of God (now, Redeeming Love Christian Embassy). Martha enjoyed traveling, visiting family, & doing crossword puzzles. She loved reading about history, the Royals, and Abraham Lincoln. She enjoyed her coffee visits with her brother and friends at Maplewood Manor, and above all, spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Carol Knak of Baraboo WI, Linda (Scott) Smith of Albuquerque NM, Sylvia (David) Canute of Bay City, Mary Ward of Bay City, and Floyd Worthington of Bay City; nine grandchildren, Danielle Knak, Joe Knak, Sarah Stamps, Charles Alderton, Mark Canute, Tasha Canute, Martha Worthington, Vanya Ward, and Natalia Ward; 10 great-grandchildren, Sadie Knak, Javon King, Miaya Worthington, Cory Harder, Isaac Stamps, Ryan Canute, Brayden Canute, Lillie Canute, Devin Canute, AshaylaMarie Arocha-Avila; two brothers, Michael Garza of Bay City and Genaro Rodriguez of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Mimi (Jerry) Ouellette of Lewiston, Manuela (Arturo) Vizcarra, of Grand Blanc, & Mary Lou Mata of Texas. She was predeceased by her son in law Bruce Knak, her sisters Ruth Huerta and Margaret Guitierrez.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to McLaren Hospice and Heartland Hampton for their support in Martha's final days. A special thank you to her friends Sandy and Diane Gambill.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Shalom Assembly of God, 304 S. Dean, Bay City. Pastor Manuel Hernandez will officiate.
