Thomas “Tom” Michael Murray

Tom passed away August 26, 2024. Tom was born on September 19, 1952 in Bay City, MI to the late Dorothy P. (Myers) Murray and Robert G. Murray. He is survived by siblings, James Murray, Patricia Witt, Nancy Tudor, David Murray, Paul Murray, and Carol (Jeff) Saunders; sister-in-law, Marilyn Murray and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Robert W. Murray and Mary Ann Murray-Carriveau; brothers-in-law, Walter Witt, Terry Carriveau and Raymond Tudor; and sister-in-law, Mary L. Murray.

Tom had an affinity for animals. He cherished his own pets and got a kick out of watching the wild geese swim and waddle around Veterans Memorial Park. He adored his chihuahua, Little Girl, and treated her as such. Tom was a big fan of Westerns, with “True Grit” being one of his favorites. Tom graduated from Bay City Central in 1970; he loved sports, football in particular which he played for St. Joseph High School.  He never missed an opportunity to talk about the game, the players and all the stats. 

Tom told the corniest of jokes and made himself laugh the hardest. The more one knew Tom, the more they understood that family was extremely important to him. He loved taking car rides with his brothers and sisters up through Northern Michigan, visiting “the farm” and stopping for pizza and ice cream along the way. He was a man of small pleasures and carried within him the biggest heart.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating Tom’s life on Thursday, Sept 12, 2024, from 4–7 p.m. at Oasis Restaurant and Lounge, 1913 Kosciuszko Ave, Bay City, MI 48708.
