Obituary of David Scott Sherman

David, age 56, passed away unexpectedly after having been in poor health. He was born in Bay City Michigan, May 15, 1966, to Richard E. and Eva M. (Taylor) Sherman. David graduated from Bay City Central High School, where he was the Drum Major his senior year. He attended Delta College, Central Michigan University, and Saginaw Valley State University to study accounting and finance. He worked in food service and agriculture. 
 

David loved riding his bike long distances on Michigan’s rail trails. He loved music of all kinds, and was happiest playing music or attending concerts. He played the trumpet, baritone, guitar, and had learned to play a family violin. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah No. 226 F&AM Masonic Lodge in Caro, Michigan. He was raised attending First Baptist Church of Bay City in Essexville and was an active member off and on for his entire life. His favorite verses were Romans 8:38-39, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
 

Dave is survived by his younger sister, Ann; a niece and two nephews, Samuel, Gwendolyn, and Elisha; his ex-wife, Laura King and her daughters, Emily and Madison; as well as numerous “Sherman” and “Roe” family cousins on both sides of his family. He was predeceased by his devoted parents, Richard and Eva; his paternal cousin, Robert Mohler; paternal uncle and aunt, Robert and Pearl Sherman; paternal aunt, Margery and Gaylord Mohler; and many beloved maternal “Roe family” cousins, aunts, and uncles.
 

Dave’s wish was to be cremated and laid to rest privately. He did not wish to have a public celebration of his life.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that family and friends planning an expression of sympathy, are asked to consider memorial contributions to the charities closest to their hearts, or to First Baptist Church of Bay City, the American Diabetes Association, The American Heart Association, or the National Alliance on Mental Illness.  To sign online guestbook, visit www.hyattewald.com  Arrangements made with the Hyatt Ewald Funeral Home.
