Obituary of Marjorie June Johnson

Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marjorie June (Hart) Johnson March 25, 1926 – February 12, 2022 Marjorie June (Hart) Johnson, passed away on February 12, 2022 in Gladwin, Michigan, at the age of 95. She was born on March 25, 1926 to Clyde Hart and Grace (Dodd) Hart Patterson in Dowagiac, Michigan, as the youngest of five children. Marjorie had a talent for sewing, knitting, and crocheting even as a young girl. She frequently enjoyed assisting with her mother’s seamstress and upholstery business. Her sewing skills progressed and by high school, she was regularly asked to help teach and assist her classmates with their sewing. Marjorie graduated from Dowagiac Central High School in May of 1944. She married her longtime sweetheart, Irving Julius ‘Johnnie’ Johnson, on June 23, 1944 during his three-day furlough from the Army Air Force. They remained happily married for over 63 years. When Marjorie’s father passed away unexpectedly in 1952, she and her husband purchased her childhood home, where they raised their own two children and resided for nearly 47 years. In 1999, shortly after her mother passed away at 106 years of age, Marge and Johnnie moved from Dowagiac to live with their daughter and her family. In addition to her immense love for home and family, Marjorie enjoyed a successful career in banking which spanned over 25 years. She began as a local bank teller and retired as a regional mortgage consultant at the corporate office. Marjorie also provided professional seamstress services for more than 75 years, bringing joy to herself and her customers. She loved to knit, crochet, quilt, garden, make jewelry, play the piano, and travel across this great nation as well. Her love for our country ran deep, as did her roots. Her family lineage dates back to William Brewster on the Mayflower voyage of 1620, and she was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Above all though, Marjorie loved God, and she loved being with her family and friends. Marjorie will forever be remembered for her loving kindness and graciousness. Not even the final stages of Alzheimer’s could shake her gentle spirit; she remained kind, loving, genuine, and patient through everything. After 95 beautiful years sharing her love, her talents, and her kindness with this world, The Lord called Marjorie home to Heaven on February 12, 2022. She joins her loving husband, Irving; her adoring parents, Clyde and Grace; her beloved siblings, brother and sister-in-law, William and Cecilia (Litwin) Hart; brother, Marion Hart; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Ruth (Schuur) Hart; sister and brother-in-law, Alma (Hart) and Lyle Peters; and her loving nephew, Bruce Peters.
