Shirley Ann Ortiz, age 72, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022. She was born in Oakland California June 25, 1949 to the late Roy Johnston and Eleanore Mildred Rivet, and was a lifelong resident of Bay City.
Shirley loved to play Bingo and watch sports, especially the Spurs, Detroit Lions, the Cowboys, and the Detroit Tigers. She was also a collector of statues of frogs. She loved watching her favorite shows on the game show channel, and Lifetime and Hallmark Channels. She loved hanging out with her friends and her family whenever she could. She had a cool laugh, and even though she couldn't say much, she definitely let you know when she was and was not happy. She liked to eat her favorite foods, like chocolate, cheese enchiladas, and rice. She will be remembered for her fabulous personality, her joking around would have most people describing her as the sweetest person in the world! She loved and cared for others as she was a pretty good “second mom” to a lot of people! Although she will be missed by many, comfort is found in knowing that she is reuniting with her best friend in the whole world, her mother, Eleanore.
She is survived by her husband, Gilbert Ortiz; children, Annette Coleman and family, Lynette (Jeffrey) Davis and family, Jeanette (Jeff) Roof and family, and Henry Geisz and family; step-daughter, Leticia Ortiz Gascoyne and fiance Matthew Deboer and family; siblings, Dan (Cherie) Rivet, John (Sandy) Johnston, Glenda (Don) Pinkston, Randy Rivet and significant other Carol; nieces, Diana Lugo and family, Trisha (Kyle) Meinhard and family; Nicole Leigh (Joshua) Tuzas and family; sisters-in-law, Monica Garcia and family, Nelda Hawkins and family, and Agetha Ortiz and family; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
