Obituary of Donald Grimmer

Grimmer, Donald G Bay City, Michigan Don, passed away on November 16, 2021 at the age of 67. He was born in Hammond Indiana on April 25, 1954 to the late Harry Peter Grimmer and Regina Theresa LaPlaunt. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed the simple things of life and helped anyone who asked or needed it. You could always find him working on personal cars and helping another in need with car repair. He enjoyed snowplowing out the neighbors on his mighty tractor. He is survived by his children, Wendy Grimmer and Kimberly (Greg) Goodwine; grandchildren, Justine Buda, Gregory Darnell Goodwine, Jr. and Alexander Donald Goodwine; siblings, Denise Grimmer, Collette (Jeff) Eigner, Joseph Grimmer, Timothy Grimmer, and Elizabeth (Darryl) Rochon; his step-mother, Valerie Grimmer; many step brothers and sisters; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Also surviving are two special family friends who became “family”, John Moton and Tina Zapata, whose help is very appreciated and will never be forgotten. He was predeceased by the love of his life, sweetheart Melody (Chapman) Grimmer; and siblings, Steve Grimmer, Mike Grimmer, and Constance “Connie” Grimmer. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Kiesel Road Church of Christ, 3200 Kiesel Road, Bay City, MI 48706, with a luncheon to follow. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery is being planned for a later date.
